Due to abnormal uterus shape and very high hips, Carter had been breech my entire pregancy. We had a C-section scheduled for 10/17. DH and I had some fun in bed late Friday night, and then I was continuously woken up to contractions that were much stronger than any BH I had experienced... Tried to sleep it off but in the morning I decided to time them (about 5 minutes apart, lasting between :45 abd 1:30)! Figured I was just dehydrated and stuck it out. Told DH and he insisted we make a trip to L&D. They kept me for a few hours and checked me 3 times (ouch!!!) but I remained 2-3 and 70%, so they sent me home. Relaxed, ate my happy food (tacos + ic cream), and went to bed with help from lots of Tylenol PM. Woke feeling actually kind of better - contractions didn't seem as "timable", but we immediate in response to me making any sort of movement. Had multiple BMs (basically didn't leave the bathroom for a while lol), then did two loads of laundry. My ten year old stepdaughter came home and i was getting ready to take her across town to a birthday party when my water broke! Everything after that was crazy painful... And when DH asked about contraction timing I remember saying they just don't stop! There was no more than a few second gap between them. Slowest ride to the hospital ever, slowest check-in receptionist ever, and most seemingly disorganized triage nurses ever! Nurse checked me and immediately got on the phone with the doctor, "urgent!". Doc checked and said I was 9.5 and baby's foot was already +2 (THAT WAS THE PAIN I WAS FEELING...OOOOH!)! She kept telling at me not to push and I was in the OR breathing in general anesthesia within 2 minutes. DH said less than 12 minutes later he was holding Carter. I woke apparently almost two hours later yelling in excruciating pain because the OB FORGOT to give me any pain meds throughout this whole process!!!! The nurse later told me that an entire leg + the opposite knee were completely outside of me by the time the doctor was pulling her through my incision! Stuff hours after surgery they had me up and walking the halls. Carter is healthy and beautiful and I am recovering and beyond happy to finally meet her.
What a wonderful whirlwind!
