What do you do when a close relative (ie your mother) buys hideous clothing for your baby?

I always feel obligated to have my baby wear clothes that have been bought for her at least once, but lately my mother has been coming back from the thrift store with some really really questionable choices... Just wondering how bad it would be for me to just make these items disappear. 😕

It's easy to make an excuse when it's a baby. They have so many clothes. Maybe wash it and put baby in it for a minute, take a picture for grandma and get rid of it?

I usually try to be thankful for what people have given me but my mom’s coworker gave me a onesie that said “I like older chicks” for my baby boy. Uhh no that one went straight to goodwill lol. But if I’m just not a huge fan of the print or something then I’ll usually just keep it for laundry day or something

Meh, clothes are clothes. I keep these types of outfits in the car or diaper bag as the extra clothes in case of messes or in the back of the drawer for when I forget to do laundry.

Say thanks and let your child wear it when they’re just at home. Clothes I don’t like from people I keep it for messy activities lol :)

I said wear once but if from a thrift store it would disappear, nothing against thrift stores but I would know it didn't cost very much so wouldn't feel as bad. If it was my own mum though I think it would be much easier just telling her it's not to your taste but you are so thankful for how she thinks about your baby. Mums understand more than we think :)

Here is a picture of the items in question. I’m sure someone would love these but they are just not what I would dress my baby in unless it was for a 70’s hippie Halloween costume lol. It doesn’t really come through in the picture but the vest looks really dingy.

My husband and I have said no thrift store clothes. We are both a bit germaphobic (I know I can wash it and I do wash the new ones) so everyone is understanding. But we will take hand me downs from our sisters kids since we know them. If we got those we would be taking them to goodwill or something like that. With a baby you can say oh my god she had a diaper blow out and it couldn't be saved.

When you know they are coming to visit you, put the clothes on baby only while the relative is there then take off strait away and chuck the clothes to Good will and if they visit again just say it’s in the wash or something 😂

Put it away in a box and forget about it until baby moves out as an adult.
