infection if uterus postpartum

i had a yeast infection when i was pregnant . tried the cream buy cream didn't work all it did was fall out . whether i was laying down or standing up . well i tried the cream again a couple days before labor and again it kept falling out. well i gave birth 6 weeks ago and just wanted to know if a yeast infection can spread to the uterus and infect it ? i had my 6 weeks check up on the 6 but doctor didn't call for results yet
