Induced at 42 weeks!

Jada

Finally getting around to posting my story!

I had a pretty normal pregnancy. We had a scare in the beginning because her nuchal fold was thick. (but everything turned it fine!) and momma had very bad tachycardia and found out she had a heart murmur. But other than that, it was great! I went into my appointment at 41 weeks 6 days to be checked and to pick a day to be induced. I had to get a stress test, ultrasound, and cervical check. My stress test showed I was having contractions but I wasn’t feeling them at all. I went and got my ultrasound.

Turns out, my amniotic fluid level was dangerously low. The doctor came in and said “Are you sick of being in this doctors office?” I said “Yes!” She then said, “Well, you can have a change of scenery.. I’m sending you to the hospital to be induced” I was in SHOCK. I knew it was happening in a few days, but today?! I wasn’t ready! Lol.Then she checked my cervix and I was 0cm dilated!

We go to the hospital and they start Cervidil around 6pm.. rough night because the delivery bed was so uncomfortable. At 6am they checked my cervix and I was 1cm. So they started Pitocin. They came back in at 10am and I was 2cm. So she manually broke my water. ( OUCH!)

I started having contractions & ended up getting an epidural around noon, still at 2cm. The epidural was the best decision I’ve ever made. I had intense back labor on top of already being sore from the bed I was on. I ended up sleeping a majority of the day. At 4pm I was at 6cm & on standby for a c-section because the babies heart rate was dropping when I had contractions. Around 630, I started feeling the contractions even through my epidural. I was at 9cm. I started pushing at 7:53 pm. I only felt pressure & no pain!. I pushed for 32 minutes and had my beautiful baby girl at 8:25pm. I only had a small tear! It was a super long process but overall went pretty smooth. It was definitely not how I thought it would go, but it was how it was meant to be. Here is my daughter, Averie Kristine. 💕

She is 7 weeks old today!
