Anyone know much about iPhones???

So I had to block my boyfriends number tonight for various reasons..... but then suddenly recieved a notification that I have a new voicemail even tho my phone did not ring. I tried searching online asking this question and it's telling me no they cannot leave a voicemail yet some people are writing that they can as it's happened to them. Which answer is correct? Could it be him?

He can still leave a voicemail, your phone won't ring, but it'll go to the "blocked messages" section. If you scroll to the bottom of your voicemail, you should see the "blocked messages" section I'm talking about.

They can leave voicemails to that’s it. The only way you can completely block someone on any phone is to contact your service provider and tell them to block the number.

Yep, blocked numbers can still leave voicemails, it just won't ring. They technically can still text you as well, it just never gets delivered

They can leave voicemails if they are blocked what happens is they call you and it auto goes to voicemail. You don’t get the bing or whatever it just shows up when you go look at it. 
I have a million numbers on block and I don’t listen to voicemails just delete them

That's what happens when it's blocked. You get a notification that they have rang and they can still leave voice messages
