Delivery room??

Question

My boyfriend and I disagree about who can be in the delivery room. I want my mother & sister there but he wants it to be just us so we can meet our daughter first. I know I'll be in pain and want my mom but he doesn't understand that. Is he being inconsiderate?

I see a lot of posts and people say, "it's entirely up to you, youre the one giving birth!" That's very true that you're the one who is enduring the experience and it is about your needs. But in the same respect, it's his experience too and can see how it might be overwhelming with that many people and he deserves to be heard as well.
I'd stand firm on having your mom there but compromise and leave it at that, not forcing an extra person on top of that.

You’re the one giving birth, you choose. It’s best that you have everything that you need to be as comfortable as possible so your labor goes as smoothly as possible, and if you need your mother there, then make sure she’s there. He should understand that.

It’s not that he’s inconsiderate he just has a different idea of how he wants to start life as a parent. Maybe see if you can compromise and just have your mom there or see if he is ok having it be just the two of you next time after you have already been through it and have a better idea what to expect?. It’s been just me and my husband every time after my first with my mother. He has a different idea and that’s ok. You just need a good compromise. Even though you are carrying the baby and will hear a lot of “you carried it so it’s all about you” it really isn’t it’s his child too, he is on this journey with you and he will be your closest ally in the future. Just try to be understanding. He just wants quiet bonding time as a family. Maybe mom can be there during labor and for a little while after and then leave and not be there all night. Maybe a half hour to an hour. Just some ideas thrown out there. There will be so many people in there with you you may not even notice your mom.

I think it's completely reasonable on both side how you feel. But I personally wound take it into account even though id love my mum and sister there  I want me and him to be the first to hold the first to see our fisst child. My mum has had this opportunity with her own kids and my sister will have hers too. Right outside the door if I need them but I want it to be us, plus it's too many people, not a bloody peep show 🤗

If It was my first which It Is. It's only going to be me and him. I totally understand we're hrs coming from. He wants this special time to be him and you alone! But I understand with you too. But I agree he has a big point there lol. I thought maybe If I had another I would be more comfortable with my mom NEXT time. But this Is our first. My husband doesn’t want my cousin in the room with us and I told him tough shit. He’s pissed he doesn’t have a say at all in it. However if my cousin doesn’t get her shit together she won’t be there. I want her to experience the birth because she’s 16 and thinks she’s a adult and wants the whole world given to her on a silver platter and thinks she’s ready for a baby. Teen mothers do make awesome mothers but she’s completely irresponsible and blames all of her mistakes on others.
