has anyone started sleep training yet? my LO is addiced to the boob in order to fall asleep so we have been trying to get him to sleep without it. we tried bottles but it's not soothing him. we started the pick up/put down method for two nights and he was just not able to settle down. he cried for the longest time.. a few hours with a few short breaks in between. he was literally hitting me and scratch in my face and getting so angry with me! the directions say to pick him up until he settles down. he really never did.. just carried on the whole time. I got him to settle down a few times but within 5 or so mins it would start up again. I finally caved at 1:30am and gave him like 1 min on the boob. fell asleep immediately.

I don't think CIO will work because he will cry for hours, I'm sure of it. Ferber won't either because there is no amount of pat or shushing that will do anything for this kid.

when he is nursed to sleep he will fall asleep immediately and sleep for 8 hours straight thru.. sometimes longer!

but we need to be able to have him sleep without nursing because when I go back to work my husband will have to put him to sleep, and we also need to be able to have a babysitter put him to sleep from time to time.
