New teacher annoying me! Am I over reacting?

Question

So I have a little boy, he turned 4 the end of August, his an absolute chatter box, never stops talking! When he was in nursery I was told by his teacher that his speech is very advanced for his age! He started reception 3 weeks ago and his new teacher pulled me aside this morning and said “are you aware your son has a speech problem” I said excuse me what makes you say that? She said he can’t pronounce the letter sound “c” so I calmly said well his been able to say the word “cat” since the age of 1 and his cousin is called “Connor” which he says daily! She then said he can’t say the sound “s” especially the word “squirrel” so I said I think squirrel is quite a hard word for a 4 year old anyway so I said well have you asked him to say “sausages” as he is more than capable of saying the sound “s” she said maybe we aren’t listening to him well enough when he speaks but I’m not the only one who’s noticed it! (No other teacher has told me anything) I also had a parents meeting on Monday and nothing was said about this? The sounds she says my son can’t make I literally had to think wait can he say them? When I know he actually can :/ How do I voice that I think she’s wrong without sounding rude! If I truly thought my son had a speech problem I would ask for help but I’m 100% sure he doesn’t, he speaks so much and no one has ever told me they couldn’t understand him! I’m just so annoyed the way she said it!

Maybe you are just so used to him speaking that it could be going over your head 
Might not be a bad idea to get a second opinion then if that dr says hes fine then go to the teacher and say he was eval and no issues and keep going about your life

It's possible you don't realize he's pronouncing his 'c's like 't's or something like that. You may not notice since you're so used to his speech. Other teachers aren't necessarily trained to notice those things because children in their age group are too young to worry about speech issues. Just my two cents.

As a teacher we are supposed to say something if we notice it. If that's all it was, the teacher didn't refer you to a speech person or anything I would just listen for it and work with him at home. 
When I was in second grade they wanted me in speech because I had trouble with worlds like World with the rl part and there was one with S but I don't remember an example. We just practiced at home and I never went to speech.

It's hard to accept when someone tells you that your child has a problem minor or major. I'm a teacher and this is always hard so I completely understand. Maybe he's saying all these other words and can't say the ones she's asking him to say because of the letters coming after the "S" and "c". I also think that 4 years old is too early to determine a speech issue. Children in kindergarten can't even say things properly so it's a little unfair that she's already concluding this about him. Squirrel could be hard because of the "q" not the "s" or the order of the letters. Have him just practice emphasizing those letters when he's home or out and about with you. Other than that, I don't think you should worry about a 4 year olds speech.

Thank you all for the comments! The teacher approached me as I picked my son up earlier and she apologised and said my son can say the sounds correctly she just didn’t listen well enough. I appreciated the apology!

Typically if the issue was bad enough the teacher would make a referral to the speech therapist for evaluation and then if needed offer services. It sounds like it's not a bad enough issue for that so I wouldn't worry to much. She was probably trying to be helpful and didn't think you would get that upset about it. Certain speech patterns develop at different ages so I would just keep an eye on it and if you notice it is worse or something let the teacher know and ideally they can help. At my school all Kindergarten students are screened for speech at the beginning of the year to see if anyone needs help. It's nothing bad if they do either.
