Grocery budget every month?

I’m a soon to be teen mom (only 17) and it’s very important to my boyfriend and me that we’re doing things for ourselves. Luckily my dad owns rental properties and he’s letting us rent one from him. He lowered the monthly rent from $1,500 all the way down to $400! I’m trying to work out a budget that we can stick to, and i’m a little lost in the grocery department. I’ve never had to worry about the cost of what i’m buying (my dad has always been able to provide a good life) but now i need to learn to be more self-aware. So for just my boyfriend and myself, what’s a good amount to be spending monthly on groceries?

depends on the rest of your budget. A lot of people don't really have a choice in how much they can spend on groceries. It's whatever's left over after bills. And if you want to save any money, that might mean taking it out of the food budget as well. So figure out the rest of your budget first and see what's left over, then find ways to make or work

husband and I, our 18 year old and 9 year old and it's at least 500 a month. with that I include toiletries, cat and dog food and cleaning supplies since I also pick those up at the grocery store.

I grocery shop every Sunday and spend about  $125 each time, so $500/month. We rarely eat out, but buy a lot of fresh veggies so I have to go weekly

I can't speak for your budget, but my husband and I allot $400/month for groceries. However, he is 55 with a very good retirement package plus additional savings and investments and I am 37 and still working. That allows us to spend a little more than we might otherwise, although I try to stay well under our budget as much as possible. Just because the money is there doesn't mean it needs to spent to the last penny.
I think it's entirely possible to spend $250-$300/month for two people. Good things to buy are rice, beans, and larger packages of meat that can be split up and frozen. Rice and beans go a very long way for not much money. Avoiding luxuries as much as possible will extend your budget too.

My husband and I spend in the $150-$200 range for a month. My biggest pieces of advice would be to cook at home instead of eating out, and when you make food make enough to have left overs for a few days. Also, don’t be scared to buy the generic brands of things. I used to turn my nose up at Great Value and other store brands, but they can significantly lower the cost of groceries in the end!

Me and my husband spend about $150-$200 a month on groceries. We have his 13 yr old and 10 yr old and I’m 36 weeks pregnant. Stick to a budget and don’t go overboard and splurge everytime you do your shopping. Start couponing if you can, it will really help! And don’t worry about buying “organic” or whatever they say that crap is.

We are a family of 4 and one on the way, we spend about 300$ a month.  I use to spend a lot more because we didnt plan meals, just whatever we felt for that day, but now i meal plan and buy what i can in bulk.
