What should you look for in buying your own house? I'm 19 and my husband is 20 we've been staying in a apartment for 2 years. We are ready to take the next step to buy or finance our own house. Just not to sure what to do any tips? Thanks!

Visit your bank and see what you can be approved for in terms of a loan. Then sit down and discuss your income and how much you spend every month. You are usually approved for more than you can actually afford. An example: 2 years ago my husband and I were approved for a loan of $400,000. After crunching numbers and realizing how much our mortgage would me each month with a reasonable interest rate of 3.5% we realized that we could really only afford $300,000 or less. 
You just have to know what you spend and what you're comfortable with and also it's important to have savings because houses require a lot of work to maintain. Something usually always needs fixing

if you find one your interested in and make it to inspection, be sure to check for cracks on the foundation, plumbing,and electrical issues. yes you can renovate but some things are REALLY expensive fixes. good luck hun

Location, location, location! You can renovate a house, but you're stuck on the lot. Is there shopping nearby? Public transportation? How's the school district? Is there enough room for a family? That's what we asked ourselves.
