What could this be..?

So my period is 12 days late (I am always on time). My period was due 10/10, up until last weekend i took a hpt but it was -. About 30 mins ago i went to the bathroom, and I was spotting (light in amount and light pink in color) I went to the bathroom again 5mins ago just to wipe and nothing is there. Could i possibly be pregnant? Why do i keep getting negative hpt? If i was pregnant, wouldn't the test be + given that I was due 10/10. Someone please help me. Any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. xoxo
