When does your milk come in?

I gave birth Tuesday night at 9:50pm and it’s almost Sunday and my milk still hasn’t come in. My newborn is starving. I put him on my boob all day and night but still nothing so I supplement with formula. Will my milk ever come in ???

It's common to feel like you're nursing all the time. It does not mean that your baby isn't getting enough! Every time you supplement with formula you're telling your body to make less milk. Do you have access to a lactation consultant through the hospital? You can also look up Le Leche League on Facebook for information and encouragement. Good luck! Breastfeeding isn't easy, especially when everything's new, but it's worth it.

If you don't feel like you're making enough, you can do a feeding weigh-in with a lactation consultant. They will take babies weight, you nurse them, they weigh again and you can see how much you produced.
Babies at that age cluster feed like crazy, but it does get better! I would look at how much baby lost in the hospital and if it was less than 10%, you're probably making enough and the baby is just doing their job by feeding a lot and making sure you're supplying enough. 
You could also start pumping after feedings to tell your body to produce even more milk, but not necessary because baby will feed more while going through a growth spurt.

It took 4 days for mine to come in. Your body makes enough colostrum to last baby until your milk comes in. I wouldn’t worry about supplementing unless baby is t getting wet / dirty diapers

I gave birth on Saturday, 7/10/17, and I didn't have milk until the Tuesday morning, so it took about 3 days to come in.
Don't lose hope. Keep baby on your boob as much as possible, I was worried the first 2 nights about her not getting enough milk, so the hospital gave her a bit of formula, just to get her to sleep..
If her latching is good, milk will soon come in, don't stress about it too much, otherwise that could also play negatively on your mind and body(boobs)

Dont worry. Relax and allow your body to do its thing. Mine came on day 3 and everyone else was tripping out but me and baby knew what we were doing. They tried to push formula but I said no way calm down it's only day 3. Keep trying and worst case scenario try to get donated milk first. Xoxo

Don't supplement!!! Baby is doing his job to bring milk in! It's exhausting but all is as it should be...back and forth on boobs, constantly, is helping your boobs do what they need to do!

Did you try pumping to see what you are making?
What helped me (or was it a coincidence?) is the power pumping session: 20 min on, 10 min off, 10 min on, 10 min off, 10 min on. Did it in the middle of the night, later that night woke up shaking uncontrollably, and then my milk came in!
