When to switch little one out of infant car seat?

My little man is a year old and a month, and was wondering when you mom's transitioned your little one to a convertible car seat? Thanks!!

We did around 8 or so months but left him rear facing.  He's only 13.5 months old so he's still rear facing and will be for a while.

As long as baby is within the height and weight limit of the bucket seat you can continue use. We only switched our baby at 6 months because we had the convertible car seats already. A great website for car seat info is car seats for the littles. They also have a Facebook group.

My Chicco Keyfit 30 had a limit of 30/30. 30
Inches or 30 pounds, whichever came first. For us, it was around 10 months because my daughter is so tall. I’d read the manufacturers booklet for the specifics for your seat. We ended up buying a convertible seat that will last a lot longer. Although the car seat carrier type didn’t last long, it was convenient having the ability to carry her in her car seat when she was little and attach her car seat to her stroller and base inside the car.

My daughter is 5 months old this weekend and we’ll be switching her by the time she’s 6 months because she’s quickly outgrowing hers. She’s only 2-3 inches from the height limit lol

We did at 7 months because she was just about to reach the height max for her infant seat. She’s now in a rear facing convertible car seat
