Sleep training?!

Question

Has anyone sleep trained their 6 month old? Our little girl is bed sharing and naps on me during the day and I feel like she'd be much happier if she got better sleep by being in her crib in her own room! Her pediatrician said she needs to be sleep trained. What methods did you use and how long did it take?

So many people are using CIO... Personally I’m not comfortable with it, perhaps read too much about attachment theory 😂 
I’m thinking about way more gentle and slow approach...

I did/ do modified CIO. I usually only let her go 5 minutes and then I comfort her. She still wakes up 1-3 times a night to nurse. I don't mind, I plan to night wean at 9 months.

following. my girl is 6 months and sleeps with us as well. we have a bassinet /playard that holds up to 20lbs so trying to use that. tried to use her crib today for a nap and she cried consistent for an hour :( I gave up

We sleep trained at 4 months and it made a HUGE difference. She was crying sometimes as much as 10 times in the night and now it’s never more than once or twice and it’s usually none at all. Also, when she cries now it’s never more than 10 minutes so we don’t even have to go in. She sleeps 7:30-7 🙌🏻 We did a modified version of CIO. We laid her down awake and never let her go more than 5-10 minutes without us going in and comforting her, but did not pick her up (these were the recommendations from our pediatrician). First night was bad, but by night 3 she only cried for 8 minutes. Good luck and hang in there!

I can attest to the fact my LO sleeps way better whenhes in his crib vs bedsharing. We bedshared up until we sleep trained around 4 months or so. It’s been a process. We started with CIO and had his crib in our room. Once that was going well we moved his crib to his own room and shortly after that he started sleeping 7-11 hours without waking (as opposed to 2-3 hour segments). I started rocking him to sleep, and then putting him down drowsy/asleep. 
Around when he hit 6 months he went through some growth spurt/leap or whatever and has regressed. He’s started refusing to be rocked/ gets super irritated and pushes away from me. I’m thinking I’m gonna have to start over again, since he’s insisting on me nursing him to sleep now again (which I don’t MIND but I don’t think he’s sleeping as well because of it all).
We use white noise, which helps A LOT. And have a solid bedtime routine. Consistency is key.

I sleep trained using a modified Ferber method. The first three nights I let her cry only 3 minuets at a time before going in to pat her and comfort her without picking her up. Then for a couple of nights I’d let her go for 5 minutes. Then 7 minutes then 10 minutes. I don’t like crying but having such small intervals made it easier. At this rate it took about 2 weeks until I could just put her down at bedtime, fully awake, and just leave the room for the night.

We sleep trained at 6 months, our daughter was a pretty good sleeper til around 4.5-5 months and then it all went downhill. She went from waking up to nurse 1-2 times a night, max, to sleeping 1.5-2 hour stretches at the most. We followed the "Sleepeasy Solution". We followed it to the letter and saw results the very first night. Not perfect but we were all sleeping a lot better than we had in weeks.

I would recommend this book, it has been very helpful for us. There is some crying but honestly a lot less than I expected, which made me very happy. We never left her crying longer than 15 minutes, and by day 4-5 she would only protest as I laid her down and would be quiet when I left the room. Of course this won't be exactly the same for everyone, but this book helped us a lot!

Our pediatrician recommended we sleep train between 4-5 months. He recommended Ferber’s controlled crying, but we just weren’t comfortable with it. Our son was drinking too much at night and not enough during the day, so we did cut out night feedings about a month ago. We’ve tried changing other things and just last week changed the type of night time diaper we’ve been using. He’s been sleeping 10-12 hours through the night ever since. Sleep training is definitely a valid option, but just thought I’d offer some hope if you didn’t want to go that route. For reference, our little guy will be 7 months next week.
