For those with older infants/kids when did your baby stop waking up to nurse in the middle of the night?

I told my doctor that my 9 month old son wakes up to nurse every 3-4 hours and the doctor said my son should sleep through the night and I shouldn't need to nurse him.  I truly think my son is hungry when he wakes up. He doesn't eat a lot during the day... he drinks about 2-3 ounces every couple of hours while I'm at work, and when he nurses, it's only for 5 minutes or so on each side. He isn't crazy about solids yet either. I don't plan on letting my baby "cry it out" but I'm just wondering what other breastfeeding moms do at this age. When did your baby stop nursing at night?

I truly believe sleep is a developmental thing and they'll do it when theyre ready my daughter used to dream feed alot at night and I just started putting her in her crib at night to sleep and after a week she stopped waking up to eat, though I still wake up once to feed her or else my breasts are super engorged. they'll do it when theyre ready but start by putting them in their crib at night for the first couple of days or weeks they'll still wake up to eat or for comfort but in time they'll sleep all night and you'll be happy you did it without having them cry it out. parenting is just give give give give, their needs surpass our needs. they're only a baby for alittle bit.

my LO is almost 10 months and still wakes up. he'll breastfeed if I'm home or take 8oz for my husband. I personally believe that he's hungry and as long as he takes a full feed I don't mind. I'm definitely exhausted but I don't personally believe in cry it out. I don't want him stressed like that. it'd keep us up longer then just feeding him.  Do what's right for you, no doctor or person should judge you or tell you how to parent.

11 months and still night nursing a lot. Please remember doctors aren't trained in breastfeeding or child development... keep on nursing on demand!

My ten month old still wakes up several times a night to nurse. He will night wean when he's ready and I'm not going to force him- though I have entertained the thought since it's messing up my back. I'm just going to let it happen naturally.

Sounds like he’s just looking for comfort since he doesn’t stay away to eat that long. Try introducing a new comfort item that he will love and only give it to him during those times.

still nursing my 18 month old son. He has slept throughout the night a handful of times. For the past 2 months he has woken up just to see if I would come in the room. but for 14 months he would wake to nurse and just conect with me. He only nurses now at bed time and early in the morning if he wakes up. We usually side lay in my bed and he sleep nurses on and off for about an hour and a half.

I didn't BF my oldest son like I am my littlest but my oldest didn't sleep through the night until he turned 3. He would wake up 2-3x a night for a sippy of cows milk. I finally decided enough was enough and started only giving him water and he decided he didn't want it anymore. TG! Not to mention all the times I was woken up from him crying because he dropped his paci and refused to find it himself and put it back in. Needless to say, right after I broke him from the paci as well which I honestly thought would be impossible. My point though, I would break him before it gets out of hand. He only wakes up and feeds because that's what he is used to. I would try to get him to eat more during the day and maybe some oatmeal before bed to keep him full through the night.

My 3 older kids (16, 13 & 10) slept through the nigh from the begining. My 1 year old still nurses every 2 hours at night.

My lo is 9 months and still eats 2-3 times during the night. However we bed share and she dream feeds, so she isn't fully awake.
