help! what would you do??
I work in a daycare and have an issue that I don't know what to do about. I'm only part time, I think it would be easier for me if I was assistant teacher again... one of the infants in our classroom has been given 2.5ml of Tylenol by his mother, and that is the dose on the medication form as well. (6-11lb is a 1.25ml dose and 12-17lb is the 2.5ml dose) he is only 3 months old and is NO WAY 12lb, he's a tiny little peanut. I feel extremely uncomfortable with the dose he's getting but I don't know how to bring this up to his mother without offending her. (even though I am only part time, I usually see her most days of the week when she comes by to nurse him) I mean, I don't know his actual weight but he's lighter than a 10lb sack of flour without a doubt.. and most of the kids older and much heavier than him are still only getting the 1.25ml dose. hell, I was giving my daughter the 1.25ml dose for the longest time before I realized she was in the next weight bracket 😏 I feel that this is something for the director/management to handle, but they don't seem to give a damn when we bring things to their attention (for example, we asked multiple times for them to come in to see what they think about a 3 month old girl's seeming lack of hearing and they still haven't!) and I'm also extremely uncomfortable with the dose he's getting! what a conundrum! what would you do? how would you prefer the daycare and staff handle this if it was YOU making a potentially life threatening mistake? especially since this isn't a one time thing, surely he will be getting multiple doses before he's actually in the 2.5ml weight bracket! help! 😣
