How soon or too late is it for a baby shower ?

My mom and sister have been wanting to throw a shower for me in December, only thing is I'll be 23 weeks then is that too soon? It's the only time they can and the only time I can attend since it's in a different city and hubby's work schedule is tricky. I'm not due until April but we will be having a gender reveal party around 7 or 8 months too. With our first child our baby showers were in February a week apart( two different cities and social groups) I was ended up going into labor in march even though my due date was in April. I just don't want everyone that's coming to this baby shower to think of as greedy or something I don't even want to register for things because i feel it's too soon.

To me that’s too early. Plus being in December, it’s right in the middle of the holidays. That might put some strain on people when it comes gifts.

it's not technically too early but I feel like people really want to see a good bump at a baby shower. I had mine at 32 weeks and it was perfect. If it had been a couple of weeks later I still would have been totally fine

I think somewhere in the 30-35 week range is best. In the last trimester but not too late to get everything ready after the shower.

Eh. I had one when I was like 30 weeks and I felt too exhausted to put anything together. Plus, I wasn’t showing so people weren’t too excited lol. But I don’t think there is a such thing as too early or late. Well actually too early is before 20 weeks I’d say.

I had mine at 37 weeks 5 days and that was WAY too late.

Honestly I don’t think that’s too early at all because the big stuff like the crib and car seat and stroller you’re going to want to set them up and air them out because they can sometimes have a plastic smell to them... also the clothes you get you could start washing them and re wash as your due date gets closer... we have bought all the big stuff and we’re 22 weeks because I’m the type of person who likes to be prepared and I have energy to put everything together right now so it’s a lot easier than it would be once I’m further along.. if December works for you then go with it. 🙂 and it will take stress off of you .. like wondering if you have everything but realizing you don’t have much time to get stuff.. this way you’ll know what you still need earlier on.
