1st baby shower ever!

I’m currently pregnant with my 2nd baby (19 weeks) and my bffs along with my husband I think are planning a baby shower for me in NJ, I live in NC so I’ll be traveling up there, I have enough family and friends there to have a great baby shower... this is my issue:

With my fist child (9 years ago) I had no baby shower and bought everything ourselves EVERYTHING! And I enjoyed it cause I got the stuff I wanted and matched everything with baby’s theme. Well now I kinda want to do the same but I’m worried I’ll get repeated stuff or things I won’t like. 😕 I know people like gifting clothes and cheaper stuff, what are somethings people DON’T gift when baby arrives or at a baby shower? I would like to start purchasing things for the baby... TIA!
