Shaving before delivery?

Question

I don’t really shave down there because it gets really irritated when I do. I have only completely shaven a few times and it’s always so itchy. Anyone on here given birth before or know if it is recommended that you shave before delivering? I keep getting mixed reviews online. Some forums say not to shave a month before to reduce infections, others say the nurses shave you if you don’t, and others say it doesn’t matter.

I literally used the clippers and just "cleaned up" i usually go au natural, and trim every other week. Before I had my son I did the same, I'd rather be healing with a little fuzz than a giant bush with blood, tissues etc getting stuck in it, but I deff wouldn't want to me trying to heal from childbirth while having razor burn/itching/ingrown hairs etc.. 
trust me, they've seen worse no matter how bad you think it is 🤷🏼‍♀️😂🤦🏼‍♀️ they know what they signed up for 👍🏼

I don’t shave. I didn’t with my first and he pushed through the bush just fine 🤷‍♀️ I even had 4th degree tearing and there were no issues with my healing whatsoever, even with my afrogina. I don’t plan on shaving with this one either. If you’re concerned though, you could ask your OB about it

Well I have a child and one on the way, it doesn’t matter! Everything gets kinda gross down there and all the doctors and nurses care about is getting baby out, don’t worry about it ! I did a clean up down there but didn’t shave everything off. I had no trouble at all

My birthing instructor said it’s good for the baby NOT to shave.

Honestly it’s up to you if you don’t shave usually don’t worry about it if they need you shaved they will do it

My mom had a bit of hair down there. I honestly don’t think it matters. But I will be getting waxed before delivering

It's ultimately up to you, I personally would because afterwards when everything's all yucky I don't want a bush in the way, but that's just my preference. Don't worry about the doctors cause believe me, they have seen worse I'm sure!

A suggestion.....
I used to have the same issue. Then I took one of those poofs you can get at Walmart or practically anywhere for like $1 and I use that to scrub down my legs, bikini area, and any place I am going to shave first. Then I’ll shave the area. I discovered this actually exfoliates the top layer of skin so I stopped getting bumps and irritation and also itching in the bikini area. When done, I’ll rub Aquafor I’ve the bikini area and let air dry as much as possible. Maybe give that a test run to see if it helps?  Really works wonders for me.
