My sweet girl is here!
My Lincoln Girl was born on October 18th! My due date was November 7th but I had to be induced at 37 weeks due to mild preeclampsia. I've got to tell ya my labor and delivery was nothing I expected.
At 36 weeks I went to a normal OB appointment and thought everything was going to be normal just like all my previous appointments but my blood pressure was looking higher than normal. So I was sent to labor and delivery for tests and monitoring. Baby was doing amazing. I on the other hand was diagnosed, after a 24 hour stay, with preeclampsia. It was not severe though. I was told when I left that I was scheduled to be induced on October 16th in the afternoon. So I go in on that Monday to be induced and they didn't start pitocin right away they decided to use a cook bulb (foley bulb) and then in the morning they gave me pitocin. When they took the bulb out I was at 4 cm dilated. They kept me on pitocin all day but gave me a break so I could eat something since I was having contractions but not bad ones. I was taken off pitocin for the night and in the morning they hit the ground running. The pitocin really kicked everything into gear. I had horrible contractions, mostly back labor, I decided to get an epidural and 20 minutes after it wore off because she didn't give me a button so I was in tears from pain. Luckily she came back and added a button 🙏🏻 then I went from a 5 to a 10 in 2 hours! I was so happy. I started to push and they could see her head. They told me since she was so far down I most likely wouldn't need a c section. Well I pushed for 2 hours! They used forceps which hurt so, so bad ( I thought I was screaming but I guess it was in my head ) and then they tell me she is stuck on my hips so I needed an emergency c section. My husband is deployed so he didn't get to see her be born but luckily I had my mother there. I could feel majority of the c section. Due to being so petite it hurt so badly ( again I thought I was screaming but was told I just kept saying wow that hurts ). Eventually my little girl was born weighing in at 5lbs 15oz and 19 inches long. They sewed me up and had me up and moving only 4 hours later. Other than slight jaundice she was healthy, happy, and nursing like a champ!
For me postpartum, I have lost all the weight I've gained this pregnancy and I fit in all my old clothes which I honestly never expected. As for the csection I am up and moving a lot and it doesn't hurt anymore and I'm only a week and a half postpartum.
Feeling so blessed for this sweet angel and such amazing doctors who took amazing care of us!
