Tdap after 36 weeks?

Hi ladies,
I’m currently 36+3 and have completely forgotten to get my tdap shot. I know they say it’s most effective to get it before 36 weeks but has anyone gotten it after that time frame? My dr says it will no longer be effective for the baby because I’m past 36 weeks so it’s up to me if I still want to get it or not... any advice is appreciated  🙏🏻

It is totally unnecessary and you and your baby will be perfectly fine without it!

They tried getting me to get that while I was in labor!!!! I'm like umm nooooo, I'm good

Yeah it’s not worth it now. It takes about two to three weeks for your body to produce the antibodies against it, and since baby can come at any time, they wouldn’t get the antibodies.

Not too late but the window for maximum benefit has passed. If you've never had the tdap vaccination you should still get it so when baby is born you don't get pertussis and pass it to them

I would still get it. You can get the shot in my trimester really doctors just suggest 27-36 because it's most effective. Whooping cough can be very life threatening so I'll whether take the shot late than not at all

No the CDC says between 27 and 36 weeks. It takes a few weeks for you to develop the antibodies but it's certainly not too late.
