Christmas gifts for Babies

So I’ve gotten in this discussion with someone on a target coupon site on a post posted by someone else asking what to get a baby going to be born in December. This person feels no baby should get anything until they are of age to understand and appreciate things (another woman said her like 2 year old hasn’t gotten a gift and isn’t planning on it this year). Christmas is NOT all about the gifts believe me I know and we all have a right to do whatever. However she’s basically saying that a baby doesn’t deserve anything they don’t know or understand Christmas. Her comments make those who do for any age guilty and like a bad parent and when mentioned was told it was a personal issue and if guilty maybe I should rethink my choice. So my question is what’s your thoughts should gifts have a maximum age basically or every should deserve something even if a day old?
