No scan until 20 weeks?

So I'm 8 weeks along by my LMP but my doctor has only set up one appointment when I am 13 weeks and that is just a checkup and to hear the heartbeat. I won't have an ultrasound until January. This seems like a long time especially since this is a rainbow baby? Am I crazy but it feels like everyone else has already had an early scan and has images of their little ones and I am just sitting here in the dark?

Depends on dr and insurance. I had my first scan at 8 weeks and it was just a dating scan and to see the heartbeat. My dr wouldn’t see anyone before 7/8 weeks. My next scan I’ll be 13 weeks and that’s part of the downs and abnormality testing. If I wasn’t opting for that test - I’d have my next scan at 20 weeks.

My doctor always does a scan around 8-9 weeks. I’m sure you can always ask for one. I know when I had three miscarriages in a row and would ask for a scan around 6-7 weeks they would. So maybe bring up your concerns to your doctor. If they have in office machines they shouldn’t have a problem with giving you one.

My insurance won’t pay for one until I’m 18 weeks. I’m currently 8 weeks and 3 days. They told me if I want one at my next appointment which is the 22nd of November I can pay 150.00 dollars. But, I do have a place called sneak a peak. It far from me so, I will be going to get one in the 17th for 80.00. I couldn’t wait until I’m 18 weeks. I have blue cross blue shield if Michigan
