What should happen?

In my area- this happened over the weekend.
Freshman in high school posted a photo of himself with an assault rifle and posted "don't come to school on Monday".
He's in custody but there's not much news on anything else.
So, considering the severity, the age, etc.  what shoood happen to this individual?
Bonus question- how would you like the school district and media to handle this story? What do you need to know besides that he is in custody?

Since nothing was thankfully followed through with, I’d like to see intensive intervention addressing whatever the root cause of this behavior was. 
I’d also add that posting this on FB, especially in the wake of so many recent tragedies either this young man was very very stupid, or it was a desperate cry for help.

I don’t need any additional information other than hes in custody and will be receiving treatment.
I believe any person who makes threats on the lives of others should undergo intensive counseling and inpatient treatment until cleared by multiple psychologists. Whether thats in a hospital or juvenile detention center. 
We should have a zero tolerance for this.

He needs to be evaluated by professionals and talked to so that they can figure out why this happened (abuse, thought it was funny, cry for help, doesn’t understand severity, etc) and from there a decision can be made on expulsion, further treatment, discipline, etc. Either way it should not be brushed under the rug even if he thought it was just a joke. I would definitely suspend him at least until we could figure out the issue.

He should be expelled, bc whether he thought it was a funny joke or was serious, that is considered a threat. He should also be put into mandatory counseling and house arrest for 6 months to year with no access to social media accounts. If they had more harsh punishments for stupid shit like this, other kids wouldn't think it's funny to "play a prank" like this stupid shit.
