I️ just found out my boyfriend who I️ truly believe is the love of my life sent/received nudes this weekend. I️ have self respect but I️ also believe in second chances, and after an extensive conversation we agreed we wanted to try again (this is the only instance anything like this has ever happened). I️ can’t break up with him, at least not yet. Am I️ a complete idiot for trying to stay?

The same happened to me a few months ago. I stayed. A girl sent him a bunch of nudes when he was drunk and he replied with a dick pic. I was completely disgusted when I found out! And felt off for a while afterwards but now I'm basically over it. Like you it was a one off time and he's not done it since. If he did I would strongly consider leaving tho. All for second chances but do it again and thats it we are done!

We all fuck up, some bigger than others. No, you're not an idiot for giving him a second chance, you're human. I discovered something big my husband was hiding from me, in the past, I would've left without notice (I'm a runner). But now that I'm better at communicating, I felt we could have an honest discussion. There are aspects of it I still don't understand, but I do know that his apology and shame were sincere, that let me know we'd be okay so long as we continue to communicate.

I believe in second chances. The advice I want to give you though, is don’t get lost in it. Don’t let it happen again  and again and keep forgiving. Don’t get walked all over. I personally believe people make mistakes and can learn from them and change. Also don’t hassle him about it if you want to give things a second chance then you need to forgive and forget. Don’t pull it out when y’all are fighting or anything like that (I’m that person). Try to bury it or you will be miserable and keep questioning everything. Best of luck ❤️
