Tips for retail?

I just had my first day working retail. To say the least, it was pretty hard. Mostly because i have never worked retail or had to use a cash register. I don’t really remember where most of the brands of clothing are either which makes returning the clothes from the fitting rooms a struggle lol.

Anyone have some tips to surviving a retail job? Maybe a way you were able to remember things? How long it actually took to know the register?

There is just soooo many things! Does it get any easier? Am i overthinking it too much. I know it was literally the FIRST day i can’t be a pro, but it’s also a fast paced company so i want to be sure i’m learning quickly as well.

My worst fear is annoying customers.
