IUI vs. IVF 🤷🏻‍♀️ Recurrent loss/unexplained, what did you decide?

We’ve been TTC for 2 years. 2 miscarriages the first year and this year haven’t been able to get pregnant. We’ve got to the specialist and are weighing options while we wait on a couple test results. Doctor said our chance of getting pregnant on our own was 3-4%.
I’d love to get others stories about why they chose IUI or straight to IVF. Thanks in advance.

I have PCOS and my husband has a low sperm count. Honestly our decision to do IUI was purely financial. The doctor saw no reason not to try IUI as there didn't appear to be anything wrong with my tubes or anything. We knew we couldn't afford IVF. Second round of IUI and we're now 7 months pregnant

I️ have premature diminished ovarian reserve, I️ just feel iui only increases my chances slightly compared to IVF. Insurance may tell me I have to try iui first though, I’m praying they don’t. I’ve already done 6 medicated cycles with timed intercourse, I️ am ready for a baby 😓

Did your doc order recurrent pregnancy loss screening? if not, i would request that. I would also try a few rounds of IUI before IVF unless there's a serious issue that makes conception impossible

I have unexplained infertility, our RE recommended up to 3 IUI before moving on to IVF. She said my chances of conceiving naturally were less than 1% per month. She gave us a 15-18% chance of conceiving with IUI.  Good luck with your decision, it's so incredibly frustrating to be in this position. 💓

Just passed the 2 yr mark of trying. Have PCOS. Had a natural pregnancy, then a miscarriage. Then had 7 (too many!) IUIs this year. 1 pregnancy of twins IUI #4, then two different miscarriages with that pregnancy the months afterwards... doctors don't know why I'm not successful/why I'm having miscarriages, each time they think everything looks perfect. Classic case of unexplained infertility. Finally, we got the okay to start IVF, we will be trying in January. I'm very upset that after 1-2 failed IUIs they didn't move us on to IVF sooner. Baby dust! Good luck ladies!

Hi there and all the best on your journey! I tried 3 cycles of IUI with no success and moved to IVF due to cost and also success % was greater. I'm currently on my 2nd transfrt. 1st transger was a chemical pregnancy. Our issue is PCOS and I had a great response with IVF- 16 frozen embryos! 😀

Originally we started with unexplained infertility but with more testing we found out it was the male factor. My husband has issues with his sperm. His count was slightly lower than normal and morphology was off (shape). Our Doctor recommended we go right right to IVF that we we could control the sperm quality from the start . Especially due to our age, I am 38 and my husband is 36. They wanted to start sooner than later.
