Postpartum bleeding

I saw the post about women wearing tampons or not and it just had me thinking. I am due next month and am worrying so much about bleeding like my period after baby is born. For those of you that have had children already, was it way worse than your period? I bleed heavily on my period and I don't want it to ruin the precious moment of just giving birth to my baby boy
