People with tattoos, which did you think hurt the most?

Personally I thought the line work on my tattoos hurt waaay more that the shading and the tattoo artist told me that's because line work actually has more needles they're just more tightly spaced together whereas shading has less needles but is more spread out. 
Lots of people have told me that shading hurt them more and I was curious to see what people think :)

Truthfully the worst part for me is when they wipe it!

Coloring for me hurt worse than lines and shading. I was so raw by the time the color started. It was very painful. But between lines and shading, shading hurt worse.

I fell asleep during my big chest piece and the one on my ribs 😂😂😂 i think the line work is more annoying than anything, it felt like someone was just scratching me with their nail. During the shading all i felt was the vibration from the needle.

the line work on my ribs kind of hurt but once he started shading i almost fell asleep
on my foot the line work wasn’t too bad, many small lines (it’s an owl) but the shading man hurt a lot,  he had like 5 mins left at the end for the white/ grey and i wanted to tap out before lol that last 5 killer

Always the line work for me. Except when the artist was a friend and he didn't have any shaders at the shop (his order was late). He just used a liner to shade my small tattoo. That was miserable.

For me it was the green, I have lilies and it’s about 1/4 of my shoulder/arm and I have brown skin so I guess it’s hard to get the green to show. So he did it then went and smoked a cigarette and came back and went back over it again! But it’s looks great lol
