HSV 2 and pregnant

I was diagnosed with genital herpes in February and I am now 23 weeks pregnant. I rarely experience outbreaks, and when I do they are mild and I've got my routine down to make them go away quickly. I'm wondering though if anyone else has experience with a vbac with herpes? I know a c-section is necessary if there are outbreak signs. If there are not though is there any reason not to have the vbac at a birthing center with a midwife like I want? Doctors have been really useless so far so I would love to just hear from the experiences of some other women.
