“Almost as dark as you now”

I went on a couple dates with this guy I met at the gym.. I am African, he is caucasian... We were all cute and shit until he went to florida for a volleyball tournament and got a tan then sent me a photo of himself and said “ sun is so hot I almost look as dark as you now.” Huhhh??? I never responded to his texts and ignored his phone calls and he kept asking me if he did something wrong.. I just felt like that was inappropriate honestly to me it wasn’t funny. Was I overreacting?? I ghosted the guy and now I feel like changing my gym so I never have to see him again 😂😂😂😂
