when to take the pacifier

Question

For the parents who gave their LO a pacifier. If you haven't please vote other/poll ☺ what age was you LO off the pacifier... including night time.
*sorry for large age gaps, I know a 13 month old is way different to a 23 month old!

my 1st and 2nd children used pacifiers. they gave them up on their own around 2. i sont really believe in taking it away unless they're still using it at like 3+. i say 3 because after that there's a social stigma with use. it's not going to hurt their teeth unless they're still using it when their baby teeth fall out and they're adult teeth start coming in(usually 5 or 6yrs). sp i wouldn't wprry about that. my philosophy on comfort objects is if they are still using it, they still need it. they'll drop it when they're ready.

Our LO transitioned away around 10-11 months. She only ever had it in the car when she was really small and in bed.

My daughter was 9 months. I think are a year should be the max. babies only use it as a crutch after the suckle instinct is gone. the sooner the better imo

I got rid of it at 6 months, it was causing sleep problems so we ditched them.

I have 3 kids. 2 liked their binkis.
By 18 months when baby starts talking more, it’s time to start taking it away during the day. By age 2, binki is just for naps and bedtime. A couple months later I take it away for naps. Then for bedtime. 
I don’t feel the need to rush this too much honestly. As long as baby is talking the way he should and the binki is the appropriate age so that tooth growth isn’t interrupted

We're a little late on taking away the pacifier from our daughter. Plan to take it away once she turns 2 (next month) but probably best to take it away before they get into their terrible twos because then it'd be hell to take away. 😂

we did it when she had her teeth in and my brother did the same with his kids. it messes with their teeth so once their teeth were in we got rid of the pacifier
