car seats and jackets?!

Question

How do you do it?! I understand not supposed to wear a winter jacket in car seat but what do people do?!
Last year he was still in his car seat with warm coverings when we went in and out of the cold so it wasn't a problem. 
Now though, for example going to daycare we have to put the jacket on when get there.. before going inside.. but how even do this with car door open on cold cold days?
What am I missing? Is this a hassle for anyone else?!

I just put a hat, mittens and a lighter coat on him and start my car before we get in so it's warm. His winter coat is very puffy and I have seen the car seat straps after I have strapped him in with it one time it's not safe. There is such a huge difference in space of the straps I'm not comfortable with it.

I'm struggling with this too. I've been covering him with a blanket until we get in the car but I have no idea what I'm going to do when it gets really cold.

I might be naive probably because it didn't get TOO cold here in Georgia, and even when it does get down in the twenties or less, it never stays that way for longer than a week or so at a time....but my question is, what is the difficulty throwing a blanket over them from the car to the entrance of where you're going? we put a beanie on our little one and dress her in light long sleeves and long pants, we always warm the car up to be heated and bring a blanket with us and we have no problems...

Really? I never knew... I unzip the jacket, but I don't take it off...

I have been putting on the inner liner jacket separate so I can move the bigger one to the outside of the buckles or just put the outer on when we go to get out. Then she still has part of the coat on.

I just came across this coat called The Road Coat by OneKid I believe. Was gonna try it but seems price. Also, The Car Seat Lady has some good tips on this.

If you go on Etsy and type in car seat ponchos... these are SO great. They’re warm, some of them button or zipper and they’re car seat approved. Keeps the kiddo warm without worrying about the straps and harness on the seat.

I wasn't actually too concerned about him being warm while in the car seat. more just the process of jacket on leaving house, jacket off in car, jacket on again before leaving car etc
