Should I get on Birth Control?

Ok so my boyfriend and I do sexual stuff but have never actually had sex before and are both virgins. Last month I was 2 weeks late when I finally got my period and we were kinda worried. I know that it’s really unlikely that I could get pregnant by sperm being on my lady parts but I know it’s a possibility and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to start some birth control. I would love feedback on if I’m just being paranoid or if I should look into it?
