Why is he getting jealous about hanging out with male friends?

My boyfriend and I broke up. I'm still in contact with him, the other day I picked his friend up from work, I didn't wait for him to come out, he called and was jealous that I was out with a couple of his friends.

Then his friend that I picked up from work was like, "if he knew we were hanging out right now, he'd be pissed. He says he doesn't care, but acts otherwise."

Thats a tough one. I cant say I blame him for being upset. You aren't together and you're coming to his job to pick up his buddies.

There's a lot that doesn't make sense here because there seems to be a lot more to the situation then what is being told(ie, reason for break up, how long you were together, etc). All of which is your business, but based off the information you shared, I think he has a right to be upset. Imagine if the situation was reversed and after you broke up he started spending time with your girlfriends. And his friends, were they his friends or both of your friends before you got together? If they were his friends, then yes you should back off. I personally would not be keeping in contact with my exs friends after a break up, regardless of the reason. Doesn't seem right unless there's more going on.

He has no right to be mad at you if you guys are broken up, but that's kinda messed up of his friend to hang out with his best friend's recent ex.
