Can this make you infertile??

Question

I know they say that being on the pill for long periods of time can not make you infertile but I’ve been on the pill for 10 years consistently. Never stopped for anything at all. I’m 24 now and got on the pill when I was 14 because I was young dumb and “in love” and my bf (at the time) convinced me sex was a good idea, I got pregnant. Had an abortion at 14 and then got on the pill. I’ve matured obviously since then and love and respect my body much differently now then I did then. But it’s always in the back of my mind... I dont plan on having kids for another 5 years... but it’s always in the back of my head.. can 15 years of constant birth control make someone infertile?? Have any of you been on BC that long and got pregnant later in life when you wanted?

Thank you ladies for not finding my question dumb! Sometimes I just rather hear from women who have actually experienced what I may be wondering and you guys definitely made me feel better about it all. I’ll talk to my gyno more about it!

birth control does not affect your fertility. once you're off it your cycle will sort itself out. any infertility would be from a different issue. I have a 2 year old, you can def get pregnant lol.

well if that was true, then my child is a miracle. no. birth control pills don't make u infertile. I was on birth control pills from 16 till 32. ttc foe one month. got pregnant that month. our daughter is 13 months.

I’ve been on “the pill” (Ortho Tri Cyclin) for 12 years continuously. 
This was a serious concern of mine as well, since my mother and other people told me that it could make you infertile or I shouldn’t be on it for that long. 
I spoke with my doctors several times over the years however and they all told me the same thing. 
 1) The pill has changed since the days of “use it no more than 10 years”
2) There is no reason it should ‘make’ me infertile
3) when I want to get pregnant, my body will adapt right after getting off the pill. That is why taking it at the same time everyday matters. 
Now that I’m 26 and married I’ve spoken with my doctors about trying to get pregnant next year and they’ve said everything seems fine for me to do so. That I should just stay on the pill or use other birth control until I am certain. 
My suggestion is talking to your doctor or a women’s health doctor and asking them your questions and voicing your concerns. They are real and valid but nothing will make you feel better until you speak to your doctor about your body.

I was on the pill straight for 9 years straight I got pregnant the following month after I stopped I did have my first miscarriage but regardless I wasn’t infertile because I  got pregnant right away so I’m sure you’ll be fine

You arent supposed to be on the pill for more than 10 years

I know that BC can make it harder / take longer as your body is so use to shedding the egg due to the BC that keeping the egg is foreign to it. 
However I don’t think it completely makes you infertile, just makes it a little longer to get pregnant.
