preemie & no breast milk?

anyone have experiences to share it what you did? my baby boy arrived early at 35 weeks and i have very little colostrum, and I'm not producing yet. he currently is eating from a bottle only to learn to suck better and will have to go through phases to learn breast again. but i need my milk asap :(

Why don’t you just exclusively pump so you don’t have to go back to the breast.

I got severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome at 36 weeks. My levels stabilized enough to keep baby in until 37 weeks when i has a medical csection. He was healthy but because my body didnt labour and wasn’t ready my milk didn’t come in until about 5/6 days pp. we supplemented with donor milk starting at 3 days pp as he had already lost 10% of his birth weight by then and he also developed jaundice due to not enough food to flush the bilirubin from his body. The lactation consultant had me putting him to breast for 5-10 min (he was getting next to nothing from me), then hubby would give him the donor milk bottle while I pumped for 20 min each side. Anything I pumped (which was barely anything) was added to the next bottle. We did that every 2.5 hours. At day 4 we used donor milk and this small tube with holes in the end that we would put into the corner of his mouth while he was on my breast. When he sucked the milk would come from the bottle down the tube but he thought it was coming from the breast. We only had to do this 3/4 times and he was latching again no issues when my milk finally started to come in. Then until 4 weeks old I supplemented with 1 oz formula after breast feeding. He’s 6 weeks now and will breast feed and take a bottle with no issues on either. It was a rough go and I thought about quitting so many times. I am still on meds (domperidone) to keep my supply up.
