My son is mad at me after first night CIO?

Question

We tried CIO last very first time and I only went in only once to change his diaper all night. He woke up twice and cried to put himself back to sleep. This morning he was up crying which made me get up. He is usually very cuddly in the morning and wants me to pick him up but not today. He is very distant not smiley and it's making me feel like I am doing something wrong. Is it normal ? Should I not do CIO ?

We don't. But to each their own. I like my kids to be secure, knowing I'm here for them. We have 7 kids. They're ages 16, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9 & 13 months. The older ones are all VERY independent, well-balanced, healthy and happy. Since that worked for them, I do the same with our 13 month old. If he cries, we tend to him. 
ALL OF THIS SAID (and I hope you have read this far)----- I have the privilege of being a SAHM. So, I CAN do this. Some moms work or have other reasons they must institute CIO methods. This is just my PERSONAL story.  
Good luck with whichever you choose! If you are doing what YOU fee is best for YOUR baby, with love... you're doing the right thing. Just wait til he is a teen. There will be a few silent days then as well. HAHAHAHAAHA!

We’re anti-sleep training 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have multiple friends that did CIO method and are heartbroken and dumbfounded that their kids have no desire to snuggle or be held anymore 💔 that’s obviously not the same in every case, but it’s been really hard watching so many people we know go through that. I let my son learn how to sleep on his own and just established solid routines.

It’s up to you. We did CIO at 6 mos and it saved our lives. I was at my end over lack of sleep. But I didn’t experience baby acting more distant. She was same as always and very happy in the mornings once she was sleeping through the night (me too)! The first three nights were hard but after that she would settle down less than 10 mins of crying. I recommend at least trying for 7 days straight. Just give extra energy and cuddles during the day. And the bedtime routine is so important!

Have you looked into some gentle sleep training options? Like the “no cry sleep solution”? I am on a Facebook group called “sleepy Littles”. It is a anti-CIO group, that has an abundance of information and support. If you post something on their page, I am sure you will get a lot of advice and help!

I would recommend just powering through it, as hard as it is these first few days. As soon as he starts sleeping through the night, he will definitely be back to his normal self. Stay strong even though it is soooo hard!

We go back in timed intervals of 3,5,7,10,15,15,15 min and just pat him and sing to him for a couple min and turn his toy back on. You have to do it consistently tho for a week like someone else said. also consistent nap times are important too, good luck!
