Do you guys think it's rude of people to ask how you conceived twins/multiples? I'm expecting Mo/Di twins in June and we just announced. Everyone has congratulated us but then they asked.... what did you do to get twins? We did IVF but our embryo split. I find it hard to say that to people because then I have to go on and explain why we did IVF , which I really don't want to. Please let me know your thoughts!

I agree. To me its none of your business what the process is, They don't ask how many fucks or what position it took for a singleton.

Just Tell the nosy people you had Sex twice in one night 😂 it’s none of their business to know what your journey is unless you want to share

I usually get asked if twins run in my family. They do, and I say that. However, we got twins through IVF. It's nobody's freaking business.

We also did IVF and our embryo split (mo/di as well). We’re asked constantly about it and it’s wildly intrusive when it’s coming from strangers.

I think peoples curiosity is normal. If people want to know how I conceived I’d gladly tell them about my struggle to get pregnant and my success using fertility treatments. Maybe one day my story can help others. So No I don’t think it’s rude I think people are genuinely curious. I also think people are quick to get offended by questions that aren’t intended to be rude. If you don’t want to talk about it just be and adult and say you’re not comfortable with the subject.

I have to admit, I've asked one or two people.. But I've just always wanted 2 kids.. maybe more, but at least 2. And I've been trying to get pregnant for 2.5 years with no luck. Recently I thought, how great would it be to have twins. As hard as getting pregnant at all is turning out to be, I REALLY don't want to go through all this twice. I thought moms would understand... and even want to help.. twins do run in my family. I just wanted to increase my odds. And when I finally get pregnant, I'll happily tell anyone struggling what finally worked! just my 2 cents

I know that people who know you and possibly knew you were trying for a while will ask because they care. The times it bothers me the most is when complete strangers ask me that. I’m not ashamed we did IVF because it is something we have been wanting for so long and struggled with. A baby(babies) are a gift no matter what way they were created, so when a stranger says congrats and then immediately asks if it was it natural or IVF I feel like it takes away from the moment. Although I have found a couple times when a stranger has asked because they have gone through IVF too so it’s nice in that case to connect to someone who has been through the same journey.

I am not sure how I feel about it. Sometimes it makes me feel weird to answer as I don’t have any twins in my family and ours were conceived naturally. It does get old having to explain that to people over and over though and to even have to answer that from strangers.

I hate when people ask me that and I do think it is rude. I think it is rude because the question somehow makes me feel like if twins were conceived by use of fertility treatment then it’s less special. Well that’s ridiculous! One it’s no ones business how I conceive whether it be a singleton or multiples. Secondly twin births are a miracle and blessing regardless. Only 3% of births in the US are twins. When people ask me how I got twins or if I used fertility treatment I simply tell them we just got lucky. Do not ever feel obligated to tell someone your story unless you want to.

I don’t think it’s rude. It may be personal but not rude. You don’t have to answer the question if u don’t want so who cares what people ask. Just ignore it or say you don’t want to talk about it.
