ADVICE!! HELP

hey ladies I need some advice for sanity sake! I have been spotting for three days and today on the fourth day it has gotten a little heavier but has always been dark brown. I have been cramping in my lower abdominal area and above my hip for the last four days. i normally only cramp the day before my period. I was supposed to call my doctor day three of my period for infertility test but I don't know when to call this has never happened.. has this happened to anyone? And if so did you could the first day of spotting day one?
