Smeared lines

So I tried using clear blue advanced opk for the first time. Prior to this I used the easy ones. I started testing around day 8 which is early for me as I usually ovulate around 14th day and I went straight from low to peak with no high days. When I took the test strip out the lines were smeared. I have continued to test because I felt that it was way too soon to start ovulation but have come up low since. Could the smeared lines have given me a false positive? I'm just curious if anyone else has had these types of issues with OPKs
