Breastfeeding struggles solved
My daughter is a week old today and I only pumped twice for a few minutes to rid off engorgement because she couldn't latch. Going through different scenarios to why she has a shallow latch. Not tongue tied. Not lip tied. She does have a tiny mouth. She is jaundice so she falls asleep sometimes. She eats every 2-3 hours during the day and 3-4 at night and the last feeding of the day (10-11pm) she'll do a 5 hour stretch. She eats 20-30 minutes as well. She does what she's supposed to but a bad yet strong latch. We did a shield for 6 days to open wider. It worked. I decided that I will use nipple butter before feeding to manipulate more nipple into her mouth. It worked!! She hasn't let go like normal. No clicking sounds and NO PAIN! Her lips pucker out now too. I'm relaxed and comfortable. I feel proud. My 1st was sent to the NICU so I pumped for her and became to sick to continue after she came home so bottle it was. My second was breadtfed and pumped for him for the first 2 weeks then strictly pumping and supplementing for 6 months. My third, now, going on 1 week! Gonna pump on her lazy sessions where she doesn't empty me out so I can be without her for date nights or Nini steals. It's just 1 week so far but it's less stressful.
