mistakes that your parents made that you will try not to make?

I'm curious to see how people will respond, maybe we can learn from each other's experiences. One of the things that sticks out in my mind that even though I had incredible parents whenever me or my siblings would accidentally do something like drop a glass dish they would yell at us like we did it intentionally and it was embarrassing and hurtful. What are things that your parents(or guardians) did that you will try your best not to do to your children?

My parents put us girls before their marriage and ended up divorcing after 22 years of marriage. My husband and I promised each other we’d never do that. Our marriage absolutely comes before our daughter. It’s the foundation of our family so it’s crucial to keep it happy, healthy and stable.

I was pretty much never disciplined. I will definitely not be allowing my kids that "luxury" 🙃

-not let any man treat me like my dad treats my mom (calls her a bitch/cunt, accuses her of cheating, calls her stupid)
-pay more attention to their good behavior and not just half-heartedly day “oh yeah that’s great”

My parents fought and screamed at each other every single day. I will never raise my voice at my husband and will communicate properly when something is bothering me.

Respect my daughters privacy-my mom would snoop around my room and try to listen in on my phone conversations. Try not to be too judgemental and opinionated. Encourage her to try new things-my parents instilled a lot of fear in me in trying new things. Compliment her and lift her up instead of putting her down all the time-my Dad constantly criticized me, I felt like no matter what I did it was never good enough for him. Try not to fight in front of her. Speak positively about my body and her body. I think my mom tried too hard to be cool and be my friend when I was in highschool. I was pretty much allowed to do whatever I wanted which resulted in drinking and doing drugs most weekends. I want to have a good relationship with my daughter but it's my job to be her parent, not her friend. There will be rules and consequences when rules are not followed.

not be a drunk, not talk myself blue in the face trying to get them to understand a point for hours (literally my dad would keep me up until 1am just to lecture me while drunk), never talking trash about the other parent, not manipulate what the child wants to do for my convenience, point out what they do right more than wrong, and hold them as much as possible. I will do the opposite of what my parents did.

I think my mom was pretty much a perfect mom and I want to be just like her as a parent. There are only two things I think she didnt do well and I will do differently
1) she never talked to me about sex. Ever. I will be more open about it 
2)I was 19 at the time so I was an adult but still could have used her support..I started crying in front of her because I had been depressed for months and told her I was depressed and she told me to get it together. And that was it. I get it though, her dad was a hard ads and her whole family is stoic, they don't express their feelings, they just get on with it. But I will definitely be more sensitive to mental health issues.

Physical abuse. Never to my kids. Criticism of everything that I did. Never to my kids. Only hugging when my mom felt guilty. I'm obviously nothing like my parents thank God.

listening!  i broke my arm when i was in 5th grade i knew it was broken since i couldnt  move it but they didnt care so i habe to complain for two days to finally  see doctor! my hole life (im 26) i was allergic  to dairy  and cats but my mom told me over and over that she knows my body  more then i know my own body so i would get sick all the time at school and everyone  thought i was just asking for attention so in 09 i finally  got texted and once agin i was right i  very allergic  to dairy and cats my mom still to this day things im lying my lips will swollen up cant breath etc and she calls me a lier
