Should retailers age restrict certain style clothes?
So at lunch me and my colleague walked past Top Shop and their display picture at the moment has a girl with a net top on and you can see her nipple. I was really shocked. Not because I'm prudish but because retailers set such an example in fashion, especially to young girls, that this sort of style seemed inappropriate to be advertising as appropriate. So me and my male colleague were talking about it and he said 'maybe retailers should put are restrictions on certain clothes'...... to be honest I was like 'That's such a good idea!'. obviously if parents want to buy their kids revealing clothes then that's the parents choice but retailers themselves then have a responsibility to be conscious about the style and examples they are setting to young people. Thought it was an interesting perspective anyway. I mean we have age restrictions for alcohol, cigarettes, films etc why not clothes?! 😁 discuss at your pleasure!
