What should we do about Christmas?

This is mine and my husbands first Christmas living in our own house. We have tons of bills, a new car and we’re paying extra on everything to get our credit score up. We have 11 nieces and nephews and a little sister all under the age of 13. We would love to buy them Christmas presents but this year either we buy presents or we probably don’t have gas or food for two weeks. Also my husband is off the week of Christmas with only 2 days paid so that will decrease his next check as well when rent and power are due. His family is very materialistic and self absorbed so I know when we don’t have presents for all the kids they’re going to freak out and claim we don’t love them. We can’t even afford to buy gifts for each other and the way I see it if I can’t afford to buy my husband a Christmas present I’m not going to do it for someone else. I’m just wondering if I’m doing the right thing. I feel so bad and I want to give the kids the world but unfortunately it’s just not in our means to do so. I just feel like a bad person because I can’t afford to buy gifts for the ones we love.

I usually cook cookies for everyone! I wrap them up all cute and put made with love on them! Everyone loves them! Maybe only make it look fancy? The dollar store is where I usually get the stuff to wrap it. They have some really cute stuff. Just be creative. That way you don't feel guilty. 💕

Having food is more important. They’ll get over it. My family did. And if they don’t tell them that Christmas is about giving not receiving

what if you did like a dollar store colouring book for everyone 
and if you can throw in crayons. 
I'm sure they will be getting plenty from everyone else the kids won't notice if you don't get anything.

Can you do an activity with the kids instead of buying them presents? Take them to see Christmas lights or bake cookies together? They’ll remember that more than presents anyway.

Make them each coupon books for dates with Aunty and Uncle! "One free play date at the park" "Dinner with Auntie" "Free spa day at Aunty's house" or something. Then you can get time with them and even if you spend a little on these dates it'll be spread out throughout the year.

I would make something fun or get them little candy gift bags for cheap.
My husband and I didn’t get xmas gifts for each other for the first 7 years of our relationship - if anyone understands you love them anyway and need to skip gifts it’s your significant other.

I would try to think of some way to give them all a present but that won't cost much. Like baking and making homemade items like cakes or biscuits or sweets? Or attempt knitting some little hats or scarves? Just anything you can create for cheaps.
