Were you able to hear your babies heartbeat at 10 weeks

I had my 10 scan a few days ago and the doctor wasn't able to find my babies heartbeat. An impromptu ultrasound was done with a portable machine to ensure that she could see the heartbeat and everything checks out. But still very upsetting. She mentioned I might have an anterior placenta which is making it difficult to hear.
