tmi/ovulation/opks

took an opk sometime this morning (on cycle day 8) it showed no surge. Ok figured it wouldn't. went pee at some point and went to wipe and had a long clear string like hanging out. grabbed it with my toilet paper and touched it and it was stretchy and wet. had this last month too but didn't BD when I seen it. came.bome from taking my daughter to cheer and took another opk again sbow3d no surge. So what does this mean? lol I'm only 8 days on my cycle I've read you can ovulate early could explain why I haven't gotten pregnant idk lol help ladies
