How many weeks of prep meals should I have?

Question

I'm 35 weeks!!!
I'm not going to have a lot of help when I come home. If I leave the meals up to my husband I'll be eating Kraft dinner every night and I'll probably starve myself at some point because of it. My question is how many weeks should I be prepared to be upside down and not making 
meals?

I’m looking at it from some different perspectives- freezer meals, freezer grab and go without thinking, go to recipes that we have most of the ingredients on hand for, freezer crock pot prepped bags to throw in frozen the night before, and “staples.” Freezer meals so far: breakfasts like grab and go breakfast burritos (usually do Egg, cheese, and green chile), homemade sausage patties, homemade pancakes and waffles to reheat easily; lunches like beef and bean burritos, shredded chicken and rice burritos, premade and individually packaged soups; dinners like four servings of chicken enchiladas, lasagna, soups and stews, premade crock pot beef stew (all raw ingredients that I will add to the crockpot). Then, I’ll make sure the pantry has staples like rice, quinoa, cereal, oatmeal, etc. A lot of things can be frozen! I’ll have a binder with easy recipes that we have most ingredients for, if not frozen, then on hand, like eggs or milk. I love cooking, and I’m honestly looking at this meal prep as a way of trying to space out our expenses too—with my leave, I’ll have one full month unpaid, as my vacation and sick and short term disability will only cover a portion. If we are prepped through freezing leftovers or making extra food now, we will be able to save money during that month.

I would do snacks like lactation boosting bliss balls or cookies, even just plain snacks for when your feeding (bottle or breast, fed is best) as well as main meals. One handed meals would be great in the first few weeks. Goodluck!

Honestly it really depends. On how your labor goes - if you give birth vaginally, c-section, or VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section). Some women recover differently then others. Then the whole, okay got a newborn in the house sleep deprivation go! So I would try to meal prep as many as possible.

I had a rough time after c section but I had made soups in advance. Great for cheap and vitamin rich food but can’t eat hot soup while holding baby. 
Sandwiches, pasta, anything you can also eat cold (fish fingers, baked beans, could cous) are useful - also only takes a few mins to heat. 
My slow cooker was and still is fab. Cooking lots of meat in one go then being able to use in sandwiches or with salad/ veggies etc is a godsend when LO will only be put down for a few mins :) x

I'm aiming to have 4-6 weeks covered at 5 meals a week. (Left overs or random stuff 2 days a week). Will have some breakfast and lunch items but will probably whip those up as I normally do or eat leftovers.

My sweet girl is going to be four months this month and it is STILL hard to go and make actual meals 😭
