OBGYN or Midwife?

I currently am seeing a midwife which I am very comfortable with, but family is pressuring me to switch to somewhere else to see an OBYGYN. The main reason I’m not comfortable with this is because I don’t want a man examining or birthing my child, I’m just not comfortable with that, and both places family is pressuring me to switch to have male OBGYNs. And I know if your OBYGYN happens to be unavailable they can have someone else birth your child, even if you’ve never met them before. I have a team of midwives I’m scheduled to meet because they tend to birth together and there will always be someone available that way. What is the major difference and should I switch?

To answer your last question: the major difference in a midwife and an OBGYN. a midwife is there tobsupport you. to help you achieve your birth the way you want it and to help you go as naturally as possibly. midwives also don't have to adhere to hospital (some hospital policies include: policies such as no getting out of bed. no eating. silent pushing). a midwife is trained to spot emergencies and transfer you as soon as possibe. on the other hand an OBGYN is there to in case things go wrong. to preform a csection. *the problem with this is that statistically the interventions used can end in higher csection rates because baby heart rate can drop from epidural or from pitocin. so things tend to go wrong: this is more my opinion but the evidence can be found on improvingbirth.org eveidencebasedbirth.com * doctors would love to adhere to the birth you want but at times hospital policies conflict with with what doctor's will "let you do".

I love midwives! I saw one my whole pregnancy and luckily she was scheduled to work at the hospital that night ❤ I wasn't a fan of one of the OBs she worked with but I 10/10 recommend midwifery. Stick to whom your comfortable with. This is your labor and delivery.

I love my midwife and would never consider switching. She has been so supportive and knows us on a personal level. Also this pregnancy I'm high risk and she has no problem with referring to to an ob and other specialists as needed.

You should definitely stick with what you are most comfortable with. It’s your pregnancy and body not theirs. 
I had a female OBGYN and I absolutely loved her. She also had a midwife in office as well and she saw me when my doctor was delivering babies and I loved her as well. They worked really well as a team and it was a great experience.

Male OBGYN’s are known to be more careful with women... there are also female OB’s who are great! It is all about looking..are you getting your proper lab work, urine test etc
