Birth Control and Sex

I have a worry. I take birth control but I gave up for a few days because I couldn't remember it for the life of me. Well later on that night me and my boyfriend had sex, we didn't know but the condom had broke and he came in me instead of pulling out. I went home and immediately showered, cleaning my vaginal area out then took the pill the next day around 5 p.m. I can't afford the Plan B and I don't know what to do. Will birth control still stop the sperm from attaching to the egg or no? I'm scared.
